Su Oh vaults into contention

Victorian Su Oh has leapt into contention along with Perth’s Minjee Lee on the third day of the LPGA’s Kingsmill Championship in Virginia.

Oh is just three shots back from the lead held by Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn at seven-under, after a third-round 67.

Lee is two shots back from Jutanugarn at eight-under having been in contention throughout, carding a 68 today.

The Australian pair have had a strong rivalry from their amateur days, both being part of a winning world amateur championship team.

Both are members of Golf Australia’s rookie program for young professionals.

Lee is already the world No. 12, with the promise of leaping into the top 10 this week, and Oh is surging after a difficult first year on tour, where she mostly played the secondary Symetra Tour in America.

But they will have to work to catch Jutanugarn, who recently became the first Thai player to win on the LPGA Tour.
