Sun shines for Tahlia & Alison

The skies opened up at Hamilton GC today for the 2014 Autumn Country Tournament after round 1 was regrettably cancelled yesterday due to inclement weather. It was a frosty start for the morning field, but in complete contrast to yesterday’s constant downpour the sun finally came out to greet the players.
Best gross score of the day came from Neangar Park member Tahlia Holmberg with an impressive 77 off the stick. The 18-year old took home the Ruby McKenzie Trophy by 6 shots from Helen Pascoe of Buninyong. Local’s Debbie Milne and Alison Rivett, both from Hamilton, had the best gross scores in the B and C grade divisions with scores of 88 and 95 respectively. Bronwyn Dwyer (Kyneton) had the best gross score in D grade with 101.
Alison Rivett (Hamilton) also claimed the Vi Teesdale Trophy awarded for the best overall nett score for the tournament. Rivett, off a handicap of 24, had a fantastic nett score of 71 to nudge out her fellow member Debbie Milne by one shot. Divisional nett winners for A, B and D grades were Tahlia Holmberg, Vicki Johnstone (Warrnambool) and Bronwyn Dwyer respectively.
Thank you to Hamilton GC for their amazing hospitality and assistance, in particular to Jo Forsyth (Women’s President), Deidre Simpkin (Women’s Captain) and Malcom Groves (Men’s Captain) and all the volunteers from the club.
Next year’s Autumn Country Tournament will be played at Trentham Golf Club on 28-29 April 2015.
