Super Steph set for Boone Valley

Stephanie Kyriacou has "prepared myself as best I can" in readiness for her tilt at US Girls Junior, which begins tonight (AEST).

"I've prepared myself pretty well considering the conditions. Staying hydrated will be a priority this week in the heat."

Kyriacou, the sole Australian in the 156 player field this week, has managed to get in a couple of practice rounds at the Boone Valley Golf Club course in Atlanta, Missouri and likes what she has seen.

"The course is in mint condition; the greens are rolling so good and quick. The fairways are soft, which makes it play longer, and the texture of the rough is different to courses back at home," she said.

The 16-year-old year 11 student from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at Kensington, has been thrilled with the amount of support she has received from her supporters back at home.

"The support from back home has been fantastic. I've had a lot of messages."

"I'm so keen to get out and play this week. It feels like a pro event, so, it will be a good experience," Kyriacou grinned.

Despite the stellar list of names on the trophy, Stephanie is yet to spot one of her sporting idols, not that the level-headed teenager would be overawed anyway.

"I haven't run into anyone famous yet," she laughed.

Kyriacou will tee off in her first round 8.28am local time (11.28pm AEST).
