It was another perfect morning for golf at Lonsdale today for the second and final round of the Surfcoast Senior Amateur. The Bellarine Peninsula has put on a show with the weather continuing on from a lovely afternoon at The Sands Torquay yesterday. Both clubs have been presented in fantastic condition and should be commended on their excellent hospitality.

Round 1 co-leader Robert Wallace finished in dominating style today, carding a 75 today for a 36-hole total of 149. The Midlands member thanked both clubs in his acceptance speech and mentioned how he had been looking forward to turning 55 and being eligible to play in the Victorian Senior events. 3 shots behind tied on 152 were familiar faces Greg Welsh and Peter Bence.

In the nett section, it was Commonwealth member Alan Buckley returning from some time away from the game claiming the top honours. The 7 marker had solid rounds of nett 67 and 72 for a total of 139 to be three shots better than second and third place getters Larry Maxwell and Graham Bone. Maxwell enjoyed an impressive nett 65 today for the best score in the field.

Heather Harley of Kooringal has claimed the Women’s Stableford trophy with steady scores of 32 and 33 for a total of 65 points. The 6 marker was 2 points ahead of runner up Glenda Kelly on 63 points, and was also the second best scorer in the Scratch Stableford section.

Buninyong’s Helen Pascoe continued her dominance in the Women’s Scratch Stableford section, finishing on 59 scratch points. Taking home the runner-up trophy was Kerrin Biddle from 13th Beach with 48 scratch points.

The next event on the Victorian Men’s & Women’s Senior Calendars is at Kooringal GC next Tuesday (16) and Wednesday (17) February.
