Talent ready to shine in round one at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links

The big problem as the Oates Vic Open begins tomorrow will be knowing where to look.

So many great names jump off the round one draw sheet that fans attending Thirteenth Beach Golf Links will need to plan their path among two great fields – men’s and women’s in alternating groups – on two super courses.

On the Creek Course, 2015 Oates Vic Open winner and runner-up Richard Green and Nick Cullen will tee off with amateur and Victorian Institute of Sport athlete Brett Coletta at 7:30am on the 10th hole.

That trio will be immediately trailed by a standout women’s group of former world No.1 and seven-time major champion Karrie Webb, 2015 Oates Vic Open runner-up Su Oh and 2013 Oates Vic Open champion Stacey Keating at 7:40am.

Power-hitting Victorian Todd Sinnott will also shine on the Creek Course. The Golf Australia rookie pro will tee off the first hole at 7:50am with fellow Victorian Kristopher Mueck and Irish ace Cormac Sharvin, who is making his professional debut.

Across on the Beach Course, British legend Laura Davies, Marianne Skarpnord and No.1 Australian women’s amateur Hannah Green will begin their Oates Vic Open campaigns off the first tee at 7:40am.

Norwegian Skarpnord, now resident at Thirteenth Beach, will be defending her 2015 title while Green is coming in hot after winning the Victorian Amateur late in 2015.

Third ranked Australian women’s professional Rebecca Artis is also playing the Beach Course in round one. She is off at 8:00am along with Italian Diana Luna and Scot Sally Watson.

Another player to watch is local pro Ben Eccles, who finished tied for low amateur with Ryan Ruffels at the 2015 Oates Vic Open and later in the year won the NSW Open. Now a professional, he will tee up alongside Michael Hendry and amateur Will Heffernan on the 10th tee of the Beach Course at 12:10pm.
