Golf Tasmania has announced the six-man team to contest the Australian Boys’ Amateur and Interstate Teams Matches later this year in New South Wales.
Returning to the boys’ team in 2017 are Strahan’s Brady Ludbey, Tasmania’s Tim Smith and Prospect Vale Golf Club’s Ryan Thomas who has been named Captain.
New members of the team are Royal Hobart’s Joey Bower, Prospect Vale’s James Fiddian and Devonport Golf Club’s Caleb Webster.
County Club Tasmania Professional, Bryce Gorham, has been named as Coach and Tasmania’s Mark Schulze will manage the team.
Daniel North from Claremont Golf Club and Deloraine’s Jack Blair will participate in the Australian Boys’ Amateur as part of the Development Squad program.
The Australian Boys' Amateur Championship will be conducted at the Wollongong Golf Club from April 5-7.
It is contested over 72-holes stroke play (cut after 36-holes), with a handicap limit of approximately 4.0.
While the 2017 running of the Boys’ Interstate Team Matches will be conducted at the Riverside Oaks Golf Club from April 10-13.
The first Australian Boys’ Interstate Teams Matches was played in 1958 and is Australia's premier Junior Amateur Team Golf Championship.
Each State and Territory is represented by six players with five players contesting singles match play each round in a round robin format.
