Golf Tasmania has announced the six-man team to contest the Australian Boys’ Amateur and Australian Boys’ Interstate Teams Matches later this year in Western Australia.
Returning to the boys’ team in 2018 are Tasmania’s Tim Smith and Prospect Vale Golf Club’s James Fiddian and Ryan Thomas, the latter named as Captain.
New members of the team are Prospect Vale’s Jack Blair and Ronan Filgate and North West Bay Golf Club’s Oscar Burrell.
County Club Tasmania Professional Bryce Gorham has been named as Coach and Tasmania Golf Club’s Mark Schulze will manage the team.
Dylan Backhouse from Tasmania Golf Club and Wynyard’s Jack Lakin will participate in the Australian Boys’ Amateur as part of the Development Squad program.
The Australian Boys' Amateur Championship will be conducted at the Gosnells Golf Club from April 11-13.
It is contested over 72-holes stroke play (cut after 36-holes), with a handicap limit of approximately 5.4.
While the 2018 running of the Boys’ Interstate Team Matches will be conducted at the Hartfield Golf Club from April 16-19.
The first Australian Boys’ Interstate Teams Matches were played in 1958 and are Australia's premier Junior Amateur Team Golf Championships.
Each State and Territory is represented by six players with five players contesting singles match play each round in a round robin format.
