Tasmanian Dewhurst joins National Squad

Golf Australia has announced that Tasmania s Ashlee Dewhurst has joined the National Squad at Tier 1 level. Dewhurst, who won the Srixon Australian Amateur Championship at Victoria Golf Club in March, has represented Australia on numerous occasions including the Trans-Tasman Cup. The 22 year-old Royal Hobart member is also a former Riversdale Cup champion and Tasmanian Amateur Champion and is currently putting together a schedule for the summer US amateur circuit. Dewhurst will also represent Golf Australia at the upcoming Arafura Games in Darwin at the start of May. Golf Australia High Performance Director Brad James said he was pleased to welcome Dewhurst to the squad. Ashlee put in an exceptional performance at the Amateur beating World Number 1 Lydia Ko on her way to victory , James said. Ashlee participated in our National Camp earlier this year and impressed us with her drive to succeed and we hope we can help her achieve that. Dewhurst is now ranked 40th on the World Amateur Golf Rankings. The addition of Dewhurst brings the current National Squad list to eleven players.
