Buninyong Golf Club duo Chris Tatt and Helen Pascoe have taken out the major prizes in the inaugural Iron Jack Yarrawonga Senior Amateur. Round two was played in windy conditions at the Yarrawonga Mulwala lake course today and the slick greens were a great challenge for all.

After trailing by 5 shots following the completion of round one at Black Bull Golf Club yesterday, Tatt proved to be the most consistent and produced another solid round of 74 today to runout a clear winner with a total of 149. Ian McCleary (Kooringal) was looking to add another trophy to his impressive 2018 collection but ultimately fell 3 shots short on a total of 152. Dean Jones (Heathcote) claimed third place after finishing a further 3 shots back with rounds of 75 and 80.

Latrobe Golf Club member Keith Finkelde took the honours in the men’s nett competition by nudging out Andrew Hansen (Eastern) on a countback with a 145 nett total. Helen Pascoe managed to hold off a strong fight from Deborah Rix (Cobden) and was victorious in the women’s scratch stableford with rounds of 33 and 31 for a 64 total. Pascoe got off to a shaky start by her lofty standards in round two but after a fine birdie on the par 3 14th she never looked back. Rix finished 5 back on 59 points after producing two impressive rounds of 33 and 26 points.

Noelle Hartnett (Rossdale) was a clear winner in the women’s stableford competition after shooting two rounds of 36 points which was partuclarly impressive given the tough conditions experienced at Yarrawonga Mulwala today. The runner-up went to Roslyn Black (Corowa) who finished on a total of 58 points.

A big thank you is to be extended to both the Black Bull and Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Clubs for their tremendous hospitality in the first edition of the Iron Jack Yarrawonga Senior Amateur. Both courses were presented in fantastic condition and were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
