The Glenelg Women’s A1 team hit top form

Jovanna Bozanic in action for Royal Adelaide Women&aposs A1 Metropolitan Pennant Round 1 summary Glenelg, Kooyonga and The Grange have enjoyed a winning start to the season, in round one of the 2012 Women&aposs A1 Pennant Competition at Royal Adelaide. In the Glenelg versus Royal Adelaide match the away side had an emphatic 5 – 0 victory over Royal Adelaide who has been their nemesis the past two seasons. Both sides have dominated the Women&aposs A1 Pennant competition in recent years, with Royal Adelaide winning the past two titles and Glenelg winning the competition in 2009. Glenelg s victory over Royal Adelaide was not entirely surprising but the margin 5 – 0 over a side with two current Women’s State Team members was unexpected. For Glenelg Amy Zhou, Jill Hodge and Christine Beasley all had comfortable wins, whilst Jenny Lee defeated Caitlin Roberts 1up and Sophie James won against Jovanna Bozanic by the same margin. Kooyonga narrowly took the points against the Fringe team 3 – 2 with Ann Ewer defeating Cailin Lakin 1up, Jill Trenorden winning over Cecelia Douglas 3&1 and Jodie Deacon narrowly defeating Rachel Taylor 1up. Claiming victories for the Fringe side were Deb Christie and Reo Jenner. In the final match, The Grange narrowly defeated Blackwood 3 & 2. Sarah Sanders and Jean Foo both had wins while Cassidy Evreniadis and Kristalle Blum both squared their matches, to nudge The Grange over the line. Jo-anne Buchanan had a great win for Blackwood over Louise Glennon. Next week&aposs round two matches at Blackwood sees the hosts taking on Royal Adelaide, while Grange play Golf SA and Glenelg front Kooyonga.
