The Grange to host 2014 Australian Amateur

The Grange Golf Club in South Australian will play host to the Australian Amateur Championship in January 2014. Once again, 216 men and 72 women will contest 36-holes stroke play qualifying, with the leading 64 men and 32 women to qualify for elimination match play. Both Championships date back to 1894 and both winners receive an exemption into the respective Australian Opens. The Grange Golf Club last hosted the Australian Men’sAmateur in 1998 when Brett Rumford won the Championship. Other notable past champions include Brendan Jones (1999), Greg Chalmers (1993), Matthew Goggin (1995) and Bruce Devlin (1959) In the Australian Women’s Amateur, The Grange Golf Club last hosted in 1986 which was won by Edwina Kennedy (NSW). Other notable past champions include Lydia Ko (2012), Stacey Keating (2010), Kristie Smith (2008) and Nikki Campbell (2002). Greg Norman recently completed his redesign of the club&aposs East Course. The $3 million redevelopment features 18 unique holes offering a world class golfing experience. Players from all over Australia, plus Germany, New Zealand, Japan, England, Scotland, Korea and the USA will contest the event. The entry fee for 2014 includes two practice rounds, pull buggies and range balls, and lunch and drinks and fruit on-course for the championship days. Various accommodation options are now available and entries close will open in mid-October.
