The Royal Melbourne Double

Alan Evans and Georgina Moore, both Royal Melbourne members, have taken the titles for the Mornington Peninsula Senior Amateur held at Flinders and Portsea Golf Clubs. Evans, who was the overnight leader, carded scores of 71 (2 over) and 75 (4 over) for a total of 146. He won by one from Thurgoona member Greg O’Brien. In the women’s sector, Georgina Moore (handicap 17) fired a notable 34 points today to take her two round winning total to 63 stableford points. The runner up was Warragul member Glenda Kelly (handicap 18) who had a combined total of 60 stableford points.

In the net section, Eddie Kloprogge a member at Creekside took the honors with rounds of 70 and 64 (total 134) off a handicap of 24. Eddie’s second round was outstanding given the next best nett score for the day was 70. Runner up in the handicap was Commonwealth member Alan Bullas who recorded a total score of 140. He edged out Denis Long (Metropolitan) on a countback.
