Play is underway at the 2017 Emirates Australian Open in perfect conditions at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney.

MyGolf participants  Isaac Riches (5) and Ruby Kavanagh (9) hit ceremonial tee shots to open the tournament, which is in its 102nd edition.

Former world No. 1 Jason Day hit the practice range ahead of his 7.05am tee-off with Geoff Ogilvy, the 2010 Open winner, and Queensland veteran Rod Pampling.

World No. 2 Jordan Spieth, the 2014 winner as well as the defending champion, has an afternoon tee-off, playing alongside Cameron Smith and Matt Jones at 12.10pm.

Good weather is forecast for the opening day with a 25 degree maximum, and the course is soft after rain on Wednesday.

Both Spieth and Day have predicted low scoring at the par-71 course, which has hosted more Australian Opens than any other.
