Thompson shares lead in Madison

Nicholas Thompson has joined Daniel Summerhays at the top of the leaderboard with a round to play at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Thompson recovered from a bogey on the first hole at the Annandale Golf Club on Saturday to post eight birdies in his seven-under 65, which put the 30-year-old American alongside Summerhays at 17 under for the tournament with a round to play in Madison, Mississippi. Summerhays had earlier completed his second round, which had been postponed on Friday after rain delays, to claim a four-shot lead heading into the penultimate 18 holes. And the 29-year-old American, who failed to convert his overnight lead heading into the final round of last week&aposs John Deere Classic, birdied two of the last three holes in his third round to card a three-under 69 and remain at the top of the leaderboard. Summerhays and Thompson hold a two-shot lead over compatriots Chad Campbell, Cameron Beckman, Woody Austin and Kyle Reifers, while Americans Brendon Todd, Bill Lunde and Vaughn Taylor are all a further stroke back. Greg Chalmers and Peter Lonard are the leading Australians in a tie for 23rd place at 10 under, one shot ahead of Cameron Percy.
