A tight finish to the 2019 Central Victorian Senior Amateur saw Terry Thompson edge out runner-ups James Lavender and Guy Krall by a single shot.
It was Thompson’s par-three play that separated him from the field, finishing two-under-par through the shorter holes.
Lavender and Krall couldn’t match him in this area, both shooting two-over-par through the par-threes.
The win caps off a stellar stretch of golf for Thompson, with top ten finishes in his previous two Doug Bachli events which sees him moving rapidly up the order of merit.
In the women’s scratch event, Sue Lush secured a major upset victory over the dominant Helen Pascoe with a two-point victory.
Lush’s round was highlighted by birdies on holes 1, 15 and 18.
Next on the Victorian senior events calendar are the Tocumwal and Shepparton Senior Amateurs which will be held this week.
