A coach with 50 years experience, a passionate advocate for senior golf across NSW & Australia, and an administrator with more than 30 years of dedicated work in the sport have been named as finalists in the Services to Golf in NSW Award.
The three are Barry Bent, Head Coach of Woolooware Golf Club, Denis Dale, Senior golf advocate, and Lynne Ritchie, Blue Mountains representative and a former member of the Golf NSW Board.

Barry Bent was nominated by two of his youngest students, Charlotte and Sophia Perkins. Mr Bent has been a member of the Australian PGA for over 50 years. To this day he remains a passionate coach and mentor for many golfers. An icon of the sport in the Sutherland Shire area, Mr Bent has helped produce some outstanding players including a Junior World Champion Golf in Matthew Giles and a European Tour Winner in Lucas Parsons.
Denis Dale is a winner of no less than 12 State and National Senior championships and over 80 NSW Senior Order of Merit titles. A passionate supporter of Senior Golf, Denis writes freely about the goings on across Australia in the Senior Amateur for Inside Golf Magazine. He founded the Australian Senior Order of Merit Website which covers events around the country and overseas. Today there are over 120 Senior events on the Australian calendar, and Mr Dale has been a vital part of the growth of the sport in the senior ranks.
Lynne Ritchie has been involved in the administration of the sport at club, district and state level for over 30 years. A former board member of Women’s Golf NSW, Lynne became a foundation board member of Golf NSW when the men’s and women’s bodies combined in 2010. Mrs Ritchie chaired the course rating and handicapping committee when the handicapping and course slope system was first introduced.
Stuart Fraser, CEO of Golf NSW praised the three finalists for their contributions to the sport.
“All three are passionate supporters of the game.
“With the many hours the trio have selflessly contributed, they have helped the game grow; whether it be by inspiring golfers to be their best, by advocating for the game, or by making the sport equitable for all, the contributions are significant,” Mr Fraser said
The winner of the Services to Golf in NSW Award will be announced at the NSW Golf Industry Awards night on Monday, 22 October, at Curzon Hall, Marsfield.
