Tim Atze wins SA Country Champs on the 21st hole

2014 Country Champion – Tim Atze

Pinnaroo’s Tim Atze has won the 2014 Country Championship, defeating Lachlan Barker from Willunga on the 21st hole in the Match Play final at Kooyonga Golf Club on Fri 3 October.

Atze, who qualified in third position after rounds of 79-73 at Royal Adelaide and The Grange respectively, battled hard to narrowly win his first two match play rounds before defeating Andrew Varcoe 8&6 in the Semi Final.

Atze won his first Country Championship in 2002 and last lifted the trophy in 2011.

Kooyonga also played host to the Fourball stableford competition on the final day of Country Week, with the pairing of Kieran Ashbyand Zeick Dalton (Blue Lakes)victorious carding a solid 44 points.

Runners up in the Fourball were Glen Johns & Gavin Sismey (Port Pirie) on 43 points.

Earlier in the week Sebastian Griggs (Roxby Downs) claimed the Individual Stableford event played at Glenelg Golf Club with 36 points ahead of Andrew Dickin (Gawler) with 35 points.

On Wednesday at Adelaide Shores, Adam Alldritt & Chris Burns (Fleurieu) -(gross 74) claimed the Country Championship by 1 strokes ahead of Tim Atze (Pinnaroo) & Jared Thoman (Murray Bridge)
