Tippett, Bayly and Nolan win at Lonsdale

The second and final round of the 2014 Lonsdale Senior Amateur wrapped up today at the Lonsdale Golf Club with players enjoying two days of fine golfing weather. 13th Beach member and overnight leader Barry Tippett outclassed the field to fire two fantastic rounds of 70 and 66 (6 under total) to edge out Tony Hyde (Rossdale) by ten shots.

Tippett mentioned that his good form was thanks to Coach Darrell Brown who he has worked with closely over the past. Barry also mentioned that it is the first time in a while that he is playing ‘pain free’ after previous complications with his back.  After teeing off the 1st in today’s second round, Barry birdied the 2nd and 3rd followed by the 6th to go out in 3 under. A solid 2 under back nine meant the title was his.

Helen Nolan (Albury) won the women’s title with two rounds of 29 and 34 stableford points to claim two championships in the one week after winning the Surfcoast Senior Amateur on Tuesday.

In the men’s nett, Kerry Bayly was never in doubt for the handicap championship after his incredible 58 yesterday. Bayly backed up that round with another fine nett score of 64. An incredible two round nett total of 122.

Thanks to all staff at the Lonsdale Golf Club for welcoming the players.

Next on the senior’s calendar is the re-scheduled Kooringal Senior Amateur which will be held the week after the Oates Vic Open on Tuesday 25- Wednesday 26 February.
