Titles are up for the Pickin

As another day closes at the Victorian Boys & Girls Championship the trophies start to get a little closer for some, but unfortunately a little further away for others. On another day that conditions went from perfect to blustery in the blink of an eye, it was tough golfing at certain stages for the leading groups.

In the Victorian Boy’s Championship, there was a swing at the top of the leader board as players set themselves for round 4. The player they are now all chasing is Jye Pickin from Avondale, NSW. Jye threw in a few birdies alongside a few bogeys early in his round with a solid 35 on his front side. Where Jye’s card became interesting was his last three holes finishing birdie, bogey, eagle, to complete a nice round of even par 72. Another player who made a significant charge today was Connor McDade from Royal Melbourne GC with a scintillating round of 69 to sit in equal second place alongside Harrison Crowe. Connor jumped out of the blocks early with two birdies in his first 4 holes and didn’t stop there with another birdie and eagle on holes 8 and 9. Connor also holds the most interest stat of the week with three consecutive eagles on hole 9.

Harrison Crowe and Jordan Percey lead the U16 & U14 Boys sections respectively and are hoping for good rounds tomorrow to keep those positions.

Bella Kil from Castle Hill continues to hold the lead in the Victorian Girls Championship at 7 over par, two strokes in front of Pelican Waters’ Sarah Wilson. The overnight leader would have been feeling in control after her opening seven holes with a single birdie and six solid pars. That feeling however quickly changed when she threw in a triple bogey and bogey to finish her front nine, narrowing the gap at the top. With some solid rounds from Phannarai Meesom-Us and June Song the race to the finish line will be an interesting one.

June Song and Phannarai Meesom-Us also sit at the top of the U16 & U14 Girls sections respectively.

As the final rounds get set to go live tomorrow, be sure to check the Golf Victoria website to watch your favourite player light up the screen.
