Toms takes out North Coast Open

Logan Toms has led all the way on a windy weekend to take out the North Coast Open at Coffs Harbour Golf Club.

The Coffs Harbour Golf Club local put together scores of 3-under par 68 and 2-over par 73, which included a double bogey on the last hole, eventually winning comfortably by three shots from Ben Dunn of Camden Haven.

Toms now has a place in the 2015 NSW Open Championship at Stonecutters Ridge after his three-shot win taking the automatic qualification place available for winning the event.

The demands of a family business however may thwart his chances of playing in the Championship.

“I’ve got family business commitments,” says Toms. “Dad is away at the moment and I’m trying to get someone in to help.”

“I’ll be doing my best to play in the event, I’ve never played or even tried to qualify for the NSW Open.”

Coffs Harbour Professional Matthew Allen praised Toms on his win in the prestigious event.

“His effort was an exceptional score in the conditions. This event has a lot of history – Gary Player has won it twice,” says Allen.

The Hon Luke Hartsuyker MP Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, and Federal Member for Cowper, was on hand to present Logan Toms with his invitation to play in the 2015 NSW Open Golf Championship at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club beginning November 12.

The 2015 New South Wales Open Championship will be played at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club from November 12 to 15, 2015. The Championship forms part of the 2015 Australasian PGA Tour schedule. ENTRY IS FREE. For more information visit:  www.nswopen.com
