Tonkin, Hilliard and Van Noord Sweep Tasmanian Junior Masters

Tasmanian Junior Masters Champions L-R: Alexandra Hilliard (Sandhurst), Jacob Tonkin (Coolangatta & Tweed Heads) and Mitch Van Noord (Launceston) Queensland&aposs Jacob Tonkin has taken out the boys&apos division of this year&aposs Tasmanian Junior Masters conducted at the Devonport Golf Club. The Coolangatta and Tweed Heads junior carded rounds of 69, 70, 69 and 68 to finish the event at four-under-par. Tonkin won by five strokes from his nearest rivals Lachlan Barker from South Australia and Matias Sanchez from Victoria on one-over-par. Riverside Golf Club’s Kade Philpott was the leading Tasmanian after carding rounds of 76, 77, 74 and 67, a fourteen-over-par total of 294. Victoria s Alexandra Hilliard won the girls division on five-under-par. Hilliard defeated Queensland&aposs Kirsty Hodgkins in second place on one-under-par. The leading Tasmanian in the girls division was Tasmania Golf Club&aposs Georgia Milbourne in eleventh position. Launceston Golf Club&aposs Mitch Van Noord came from behind to win this year&aposs Tasmanian Men&aposs U/24 Championship. Van Noord finished the event with a five-under-par total of 275 to win his second straight championship title by three strokes from Burnie Golf Club&aposs Aaron Dobson.
