American Pat Perez held on to win the Bob Hope Classic by three shots, while Australian John Senden finished in a tie for ninth place after a solid final round. Perez, who shot 20-under through the opening two rounds, had an up-and-down round with five birdies, two bogeys, a double bogey and an eagle on his way to a three-under 69 and a 33-under total. The win was Perez&apos first on the PGA Tour. Second-placed John Merrick stormed into contention with a 67, but missed a birdie putt on the last hole, while Perez made eagle to secure the three-shot victory. Canadian Mike Weir and overnight leader Steve Stricker finished in third place on 28-under, while Bo Van Pelt, Tim Clark, Webb Simpson and Stephen Ames all tied for fifth. Mathew Goggin could only manage a 71 in his final round to finish in a tie for 19th at 24-under, while Peter Lonard shot a disappointing two-over to finish back in 60th place.
