Townsend leads Japan Q School

2008 NSW Open Champion Aaron Townsend has continued his good start at the final stage of the 2015 Japanese Tour Qualifying School.

The Novocastrian leads the event at 7-under par 137 after he carded a second round 2-under par 70 on the King Course to go with his first round 5-under par 67 on the Queen course at the Hakusan Village Golf course at the Cocopa Resort in Mie Prefecture. 

Matt Steiger, of Narrabri, the 2011 Australian Amateur Champion. is tied 21st after he followed his first round 4-under par 68 with a 3-over par 75 to be 1-under par 143 after two rounds.

Fellow Australians Matthew Guyatt and Steven Jeffress posted matching 3-over par 75's to add to their first round 72's to be tied 102nd , while Victorian Peter Wilson sits tied 119th after posting a 75 to go with his first round 1-over par 73.

The Marathon 6 round school is held over two courses with 178 entrants vying for 35 cards. A cut will be made after 4 rounds. With the top 90 scores completing the final two rounds.
