A full capacity field of 108 players took to the quaint tree lined layout of Trentham GC for the eighth installment of the 2016 Mazda Victorian Fourball country qualifying rounds. Pleasant conditions greeted the field which was reflected with a number fantastic scores returned.
The mixed event saw the Lakeside pair of Jan Olszewski & Maria Flanagan return the day’s top mixed score of 46 points. In second place was the husband & wife pair of David & Trish Phillips (Cragieburn-Willmott) with 45 points. The results of the women’s event produced the highest score of the entire qualifying rounds so far, with the local Trentham pair of Alex Evered & Chris Schussler producing an incredible 50 points! Kyneton’s Denise Murphy & Banksie Buckley finished runner-up with 45 points
The men’s event was extremely tight at the top, with William Strangwick & Ron Sprague (Camberwell) scraping home by one point with a strong score of 49 points. Local Trentham pair Geoff Durham & William Aplin finished runner-up for the men’s event with a score of 48 points.
The next qualifying rounds will be held at Neangar Park & Trafalgar GC’s on Sunday 14 February.
