Two major champs commit to 2020 ISPS Handa Vic Open

Australia's newest major champ Hannah Green and US Open hero Geoff Ogilvy will both be on the fairways of the 13th Beach Golf Links from 6-9 February.

As tickets go on sale today for the groundbreaking championship, Golf Australia General Manager of Operations Simon Brookhouse said it was a great portent for next year's field to have two such decorated players sign up early.

Green rewrote Australian golfing history when she stormed to the KPMG Women's PGA Championship in June, becoming just the third Australian woman to win a major championship.

Ogilvy, also a three-time WGC winner, will forever be remembered as the 2006 US Open champion, beating Phil Mickelson, Colin Montgomerie and Jim Furyk in a wild finish.

"To see Hannah and Geoff show their support is a great sign for a tournament that continues to amaze the golfing world," Brookhouse said.

"They are both very popular players and always attract great interest, so I'm sure that will continue when we get down to Barwon Heads in February."

The ISPS Handa Vic Open is a unique concurrent men’s and women’s professional tournament. It is jointly sanctioned by the ALPG, LPGA, ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia and European Tour and features equal prizemoney for men and women.

Entry is free to all Victorian golf club members, but other tickets are on sale through oTix and remain some of the best value in elite sport at $10 per day, $30 for a season pass. Children under 18 and those with a Seniors Card are free. See vicopengolf.com/ticketing for details.
