UK: Murdaca finishes sixth at Junior Open

JUNIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP SCORING South Australia&aposs Anthony Murdaca completed a superb performance in Scotland to finish in a tie for 6th place at the Junior Open Championship at Lundin Golf Club near St Andrews. Murdaca finished the championship with rounds of 74-69-77. Murdaca, the 2010 Australian Boys&apos Amateur Champion, finished nine strokes behind champion Kenta Konishi from Japan who closed with a final round 72. Queensland&aposs Emily McLennan fired a second round of 4-over par 76 to be in a tie for 34th. McLennan had a challenging third round 85 following her earlier rounds of 81 and 76 and finished in a tie for 36th place. Both players will now head to St Andrews to take in some of the 150th Open Championship. All nations affiliated to The R&A are invited to enter one boy and one girl, under the age of 16, for the biennial event, which is played over three rounds of stroke play. Past players at The Junior Open Championship include newly-crowned US Women’s Open champion Paula Creamer and Northern Ireland s Rory McIlroy. The 2010 Junior Open Championship was held at Lundin Golf Club from 12-14 July.
