Ulverstone set for Women’s Senior and Mid Amateur

The Australian Women’s Senior and Mid Amateur Championships tee off next Monday at the picturesque Ulverstone Golf Club in northern Tasmania. In its second year, a quality field has assembled for the Mid Amateur Championship, including defending champion Julie Swanson from NSW. She will face strong opposition from her other NSW counterparts including Gemma Dooley and Kim Burke. Tasmanian local Tammy Hall will also be in the mix over the 54-holes stroke play, which concludes on Wednesday. In the Australian Women’s Senior Amateur Championship, for players aged 55 years and over, the current and four-time champion, Sylvia Donohoe from NSW, will again go in as favourite. Deirdre Brander, also from NSW and last year s runner up will be hoping to win her first National Championship, while Helen Stewart, Ros Fisher and Lynne Townsend will also be worth watching. The Australian Women’s Senior Amateur Championship will include 36-holes qualifying, with the leading 16 players progressing to match play. The Final of the Championship, as well as the Finals of the three Age Flight Divisions, will conclude on Friday.
