US Women’s Amateur underway – momentarily

Kristie Smith has made a solid start to her US Women&aposs Amateur campaign, going three-under through seven holes before play was suspended by weather. The West Australian started with a birdie on the 10th, strung a series of pars together before clinching back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 as the weather closed in to halt her momentum. Fellow Australia Alison Whitaker managed to fit nine holes in before play was suspended. She is even with the card in a share of 27th place. Candace Schepperle of Alamaba leads the field with a five-under 67. The American was out in just 31 but was more subdued in her even-par back nine. Play resumes Tuesday night (AEST) Click here for complete scoring
