Val Marsh from Ocean Shores Country Club who plays off a 9 handicap is the 2013 WGNR Veteran s Champion for Northern Rivers. Val scored 23 off scratch to narrowly defeat Anne Jackson of Ballina Golf and Sports Club with 22 off scratch. The event was held at Casino Golf Club on 25th March 2013 with 84 players from 14 of 19 clubs represented from the district. A good attendance considering the number of courses that have been out of action for a number of weeks because of the poor weather, making it difficult to advertise the event. While there were concerns about the weather the previous day because of a storm, the ladies hit off in blazing sunshine where the humidity was high and the temperature hit 30C. Although scores were not high because of the heat; and there were some difficulties on sections of the course, it turned out to be a most enjoyable day with a great deal of socialising.
