Vale Don Halliwell

Golf Australia extends its sympathies to the family and friends of Don Halliwell OAM who died on February 11 in Hobart aged 72. Halliwell was President of the Australian Golf Union in 1987 and 1993 and also served as Australia&aposs delegate to the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation and World Amateur Golf Council. He was a Tasmanian state selector for 10 years and state team manager for six years. He joined the Devonport Golf Club in 1960 and was president from 1973-75. He was made a life member and achieved the same accolade at North Western District Golf Union, Northern Tasmanian Golf Association and the Tasmanian Golf Association. Mr Halliwell was made an OAM in 1996 for services to golf at a state, national and international level. He is survived by his wife Susan and children (twin sons) Alan and James and daughters Nicole and Fiona.
