Vale Kate Nolan

Golf Australia expresses its deepest sympathy at the passing of professional golfer Kate Nolan (nee McIntosh), aged 44 years.

As an amateur golfer, Kate represented Australia in the pinnacle amateur team competition at the 1996 and 1998 World Amateur Teams Championship, and in 1998 won the Australian and Victorian Women’s Stroke Play Championships.

Kate turned professional in 1998 and played in the US, Europe and Asia – the highlight of her pro career coming with her win at the 2003 Aristocrat Mollymook Women’s Classic.

At the conclusion of her playing career, Kate was a popular PGA instructor at Albert Park Driving Range. She was one of the facility’s inaugural coaches when it opened in 1996. She was also heavily involved with Golf Australia’s Swing Fit program.

“Kate was a fierce competitor and a great ball striker,” Nadina Light, Golf Victoria Board Member said.

“She had an infectious personality and was an inspiration”, Light said.

Kate passed away early on Saturday 14 September, surrounded by her family.
