Vale: Kevin James 1928-2018

Kevin James, a Life Member of Golf NSW and the NSWGA, has passed away, aged 89.

Mr James, a former Vice President and Director of the NSWGA, was a delegate to the Australian Golf Union and a former Chairman of the NSW Golf League.

Mr James became a Life Member of the NSWGA in March 2000 after 18 years of service to the sport in NSW.

“He was integral figure in the 1990’s and from well before that,” former Chairman of the NSWGA, Mr Bruce Nairn said.

Mr James was a former President of North Ryde GC and represented Metropolitan Group 2 .He was also a Chairman of Handicap and the Course Rating Committee.

“He was an expert in the ratings field before the advent of the slope system.

“Kevin was the person who went around NSW. He made lots of visits to clubs around the state,”

“He was a great operator and did a lot for the Association,” Mr Nairn added.

A funeral service for Mr James was held at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Monday, April 16th. He is survived by his children Gregory, Craig, Joanne and Sharon, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
