Golf Australia extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of promising Tasmanian amateur Luke Young and his mother Julie who were both tragically killed in a car accident at South Arm in Tasmania on Thursday. A member of Royal Hobart Golf Club, Young had represented Tasmania around Australia, as a junior and in colts teams. He was runner-up at last year&aposs Tasmanian Open where he hit a course record. He had been selected to make his debut in the Tasmanian men&aposs team at the Australian Interstate Teams Matches at Peninsula Country Golf Club in Victoria in September. Mrs Young had recently taken part in a major Tasmanian lung health study in a bid to help sufferers of asthma. Nine people were killed on Tasmanian roads on Thursday making it the worst day of road fatalities in the state&aposs history.
