Vale: Margaret (Meg) Felan

Meg Felan, a former Lady President and Lady Captain, club representative and Life member of Cromer Golf Club has passed away aged 93.

Meg took up the game in the 1950 and chalked up over 60 years of service to the game at club, state and national level.

She served as a committee woman with the Ladies Golf Union for many years and was a strong advocate junior participation in the game. She managed a number of representative teams, including taking teams to competition in the United States and as representatives in the Queen Sirikit Cup.

She was involved in encouraging girls into the game through her involvement with the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, and was present when the Prime Minister Bob Hawke announced the formation of the JNJGF at Parliament House, Canberra.

In 2000  she was awarded the Centenary Australian Sports Medal from Prime Minister John Howard for her contribution to the sport.

She was remembered by friends and family at her funeral service at Mona Vale in late January.
