With deep sadness Golf NSW informs our golfing community that Golf NSW Honorary Member Patsy Jessup passed away on 24th August. She was in the Palliative Care Ward at St Vincent’s Hospital, Lismore when she passed away peacefully at 2:30am.
Patsy was an exceptionally private person and wanted a private graveside service with her family and friends. To commemorate her life, a wake was held the following Thursday at her home club, Casino Golf Club.
Patsy was heavily involved with women’s golf and as a result was recognised with a Women’s Golf NSW (WGNSW) Honorary Membership. In 2010, when WGNSW amalgamated with the NSW Golf Association, Patsy was invited to accept Golf NSW Honorary Membership.
Sue Fabian, Golf NSW Deputy Chair and former Women’s Golf NSW President said, “Patsy was a wonderful person…a real lady whose sincerity and kindness endeared her to everyone."
“I don’t think I have ever seen her equal when it came to communicating with an audience and making people feel welcome, included and entertained. She is a great loss to her family and friends, to Casino Golf Club and to the District.”
Patsy was an active member of golf in the Northern Rivers for a number of years. She served as its President, Vice President and as a Northern Rivers Representative for Casino Golf Club. She also held several senior positions on the Ladies Committee at her local Casino Golf Club going above and beyond her role supporting golf in the area.
In 2013 Patsy was awarded Life Membership at Casino Golf Club. In October the same year, Women’s Golf Northern Rivers (WGNR) also presented her with Life Membership in front of a crowd who gave her a standing ovation.
Robyne Trotter, President of WGNR said, “Her public relation skills ensured that the clubs in our region were renown state-wide as being active and innovative…..She was a wonderful ambassador for women’s golf and used every opportunity to foster and promote golf for women in the Northern Rivers.”
Patsy will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to all of Patsy’s family and friends.
