Vale – Tony Charlton

The President, Board and Staff of Golf Victoria express their deepest sympathy at the passing of Mr. Tony Charlton, aged 83 years.

A member of the Metropolitan Golf Club and renowned broadcaster, Tony had a much appreciated association with Golf Victoria as tournament director of the Victorian Open during the 1970’s and 80’s and was an instrumental contributor to the Golf Victoria centenary celebrations in 2002, including team of the century recognition and centenary dinner presentation.

An innovator in his role with the Victorian Open, Tony undertook many initiatives including introducing a women’s invitational section, engaging leading International golf stars and in enhancing the presentation of the event with great attention to detail.

Golf Victoria’s sincere condolences are extended to the Charlton family at this time. Tony was a thorough gentleman with a passion for golf and will be sadly missed.
