Valentine and Harley Claim Box Hill Senior

On a perfect Friday morning, 77 men and 17 women competed in the 2019 Box Hill Senior Amateur. The event took place over 18 holes with the men competing in stroke and women playing stableford.

Steven Valentine from Kew Golf Club a regular and big supporter of the Senior Events took out the Men’s Gross Title with a very competitive score of 72 . Runner up James Lavender (Northern GC) shot 73 and third place Ray Walker (Gardiners Run) won on a countback with 75.

Alphons Duivenvoorden (Warburton Golf Club) played off a daily handicap of 16 and claimed the Men’s Nett Title with a nett 69. Runner up David Boddy (Box Hill) and third place Steve Warburton (Keysborough GC) both shooting 71.

Regular player in the senior events Heather Harley (Kooringal Golf Club) has wrapped up another win on the women's seniors circuit scoring 23 scratch points in the Women’s Scratch Stableford competition to win by 4 points. Sandra Collingwood (Keysborough GC) was the next best with 19 scratch points. In the stableford section Laraine Cunningham from Rossdale GC took home the title by four shots over local Box Hill member Jenny Long.

Thank you to all participants who competed and made for a highly enjoyable event. The next event on the senior calendar is the Hepburn Springs Senior Amateur to be held on May 23-24.
