arial,helvetica,sans-serif;”>"The Regional Qualifying Tournaments are the ideal pathway for amateurs across the State to gain entry into the 2016 NSW Open Golf Championship," Graeme Phillipson, Golf NSW General Manager – Golf, said "Including the tournaments in the NSW Vardon calendar means the state's elite players have another reason to compete and hopefully secure a spot in the NSW Open along the way."

arial,helvetica,sans-serif;”>The Vardon Trophy is one of Golf NSW's most prestigious titles and has been awarded to some of the State's finest golfers including Bruce Devlin, Brett Ogle, Lucas Parsons, Brendan Jones, Scott Gardiner, James Nitties and Won Jon Lee since its inception in the 1950's.

arial,helvetica,sans-serif;”>The winner of the Vardon Trophy is the player with the lowest scoring average for the previous 12 months and who has played a minimum of 25 qualifying rounds. It is open to male amateur golfers who hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap of 4 or less.

arial,helvetica,sans-serif;”>Austin Bautista underlined the future he has in the game by picking up the 2015 title after a standout year that included victory in the Federal Amateur Championship and securing a place in last year's Emirates Australian Open.

arial,helvetica,sans-serif;”>The NSW Open Regional Qualifying Tournaments will kick off at Howlong and Thurgoona Golf Clubs in the Albury region on the 18th and 19th of June 2016.
