Vesey wins Silver Spoon in style

Robyn Vesey from Winchelsea has claimed the 2015 Silver Spoon after recording a fine score of 40 stableford points in the State Final today at Kew Golf Club in what was shining conditions.

The event commences with Club Qualifying rounds throughout the year, with winners proceeding to the State Final. This year 180 Victorian affiliated clubs participated with 113 of them attending today’s final. It was a warm day in Metropolitan Melbourne with the maximum reaching 33 late in the afternoon with moderate winds also meeting the players.

After starting on the 10th hole, Vesey went out in 17 points but came home with an outstanding 23 points on the front nine to claim the Burtta Cheney Trophy along with a case of spoons.

Lee Andrews (Lang Lang) made the most of the weather scooping up 37 points in the morning’s field to edge out Robyn Brake (Mt Martha) & Tina Cook (Bright) on 36 points.

Kew Golf Club, located in the Boroondara area, is the third oldest club in Melbourne which provides a unique golfing challenge to all abilities. New clubhouse renovations have been a success to the club with the course also in a high-quality condition.
