VGF Annual Golf Day Royal Melbourne

The annual Victorian Golf Foundation Golf Day was played at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club on Sunday September 30th with over 200 players from over 70 different clubs throughout the State enjoying fine but cool conditions over the renowned West course.

First played in 1988, the Victorian Golf Foundation Annual Golf Day is played at Royal Melbourne each year to raise funds for the Educational and Golf Development of talented Victorian Junior Golfers and junior golf development projects undertaken within Victoria.

Previously known as the Queen Elizabeth Trophy and the Foundation for Young Australians event, the Day is run in partnership with Royal Melbourne and also provides an exciting opportunity for golfers from all over the State to play on the famous course.

The Victorian Golf Foundation was established in 1987 as a joint initiative of the former Victorian Golf Association and Women’s Golf Victoria. It is a non-profit, golf development and support agency run for the benefit of golf and golf clubs in Victoria.

Following an initial period of capital building, in 1995 the Foundation Trustees commenced making annual grants to support golf development programs and projects conducted in Victoria including many directly provided by affiliated golf clubs and Country District Associations.

The provision of annual grants is ongoing and opportunity is provided each year for interested clubs and Districts to apply for funding support. Since 1995 a total of approximately $3 million has been expended by the VGF to benefit Victorian golf. 2013 Grant application forms are now available on the Golf Victoria Website at www.golfvic.org.au

In staging the 2012 VGF Annual Golf Day, Golf Victoria formally acknowledges Royal Melbourne Golf Club for the ongoing support provided and to Golf Victoria rules officials John Scrivener, David Santwyk-Anderson, Rick Gillivour Fiona Leggett, Jeff Ward and Patrick Danaher for assisting with the smooth running of the day.
