Vic Country Team Defeats South Australia in Annual Match

The Victorian Country Team has defeated the South Australian Country Team in the annual match played this year at the Portland Golf Club on the weekend of November 2-3.

The eight man Victorian Country Team won 13.5 points to 2.5 in the multi-formatted event that saw foursomes matches played on the opening Saturday morning, four-ball matches in the afternoon and individual match play to conclude on Sunday morning.

The Victorian Team consisted of: 
Craig Boucher – Midlands (Captain)
Levi Burns – Horsham
Tom Cowie – Trafalgar
Simon Goggin – Hamilton
Kyle Michel – Shepparton
Andrew Schonewille – Rosebud
Ben Campbell – Edenhope
Graham Rentsch – Hamilton

The Team was managed by Golf Victoria Board member Mark Bamford with GV Committee member, John Snowden serving as the assistant manager.

The match has been played since 1989, annually alternating between Victoria and South Australia. The contest provides a high standard match for the leading country players from both states.

The annual match returns to South Australia in 2014 over the weekend of November 1 – 2 at a venue to be determined.
