Victoria Park Golf Complex is located just two kilometres away from Brisbane s inner city and is your ultimate golf facility. Featuring not only an 18 hole golf course and a 72 bay, two level floodlit driving range, Victoria Park also offers an 18 hole mini golf course and a state of the art Golf Learning Centre which is where their MYGolf program is run. Registered as a MYGolf Centre since January 2011, Victoria Park now has 64 participants registered for MYGolf and are looking to increase that number in 2012. The following questions have been answered by their Centre Coordinator and Director of Instruction, Sean Dwyer. Why do you run a Junior Program? Victoria Park Golf Complex believes that the future of golf starts with juniors. Junior development has been a long term passion and a large part of my golf coaching mission. Victoria Park Golf Complex is continually providing juniors the opportunity to have fun, learn something new and meet friends all whilst doing it in a friendly, professional and relaxed atmosphere. We believe that by continually growing and developing junior golf in Australia that we are giving these kids a great physical, technical and mental foundation for their future. Who runs the program? Our programme is primarily run by myself and is assisted by some of Victoria Park s other full time golf professionals including Glenn Domigan, Chris Gibson and Bronwyn Russell (who also works for Golf Queensland. How have you found the MYGolf program and the benefits? The skill tests and levels are great and we also enjoy the extra communication between coach, student and parents. We look forward to holding Skills Challenge days at our club. Any tips and ideas you can give to run the program successfully? Planning, persistence and a passion for junior development and coaching! Looking forward for 2012, Sean hopes to build the end of term tournaments and create a closer relationship between Victoria Park and the local schools. The long term goal involves expanding the tournaments so that all of the Victoria Park junior members and local school participants can take part in MYGolf together where they can have fun and test their skills at the same time.
