The South Australian country team has been defeated by the Victoria country team in the annual match played this year at Nhill Golf Club in Victoria over the weekend 31 Oct and 1 Nov..
The eight man South Australian country team went down 12 points to 4 in the multi-formatted event that saw foursomes matches played on the opening Saturday morning, four-ball matches in the afternoon and individual match play to conclude on Sunday morning.
Despite the overall margin, the match was close after the first day’s foursomes and four-ball matches with the Victorian Team leading 5 points to 3.
The final day’s singles matches saw the Victorian team produce a dominant display, securing 7 of the 8 points on offer to win comfortably 12 points to 4.
The South Australian country team consisted of Daryl Morgan (Mount Gambier) – Captain, Joel Durnford (Booleroo Centre), James Norcock (Naracoorte), Adam Alldritt (Fleurieu), Chris Burns (Fleurieu), Darren Bilney (Mount Gambier), Anthony Williams (Mount Gambier) and Jared Thoman (Murray Bridge)
The team was managed by SA Golf Hall of Fame Member Peter Howard and Golf SA Board Member/Country Committee Chair Bill Klaebe.
Victoria were represented by: Greg Rhodes (Captain), Andrew Schonewille, Kyle Michel, Tom Couling, Ryan Hammond, Peter O’Dwyer, Brad Dunn & Cameron Stewart.
The annual match returns to South Australia in 2016 over the weekend of October 29-30 October.
