The Victorian Country Team has defeated the South Australian Country Team in the annual match played this year at the Naracoorte Golf Club in South Australia on the weekend of November 1-2.
The eight man Victorian Country Team won 11.5 points to 4.5 in the multi-formatted event that saw foursomes matches played on the opening Saturday morning, four-ball matches in the afternoon and individual match play to conclude on Sunday morning.
The Victorian Team consisted of:
Peter O’Dwyer (Captain) – Portsea
Craig Boucher – Midlands
Tim Coffey – Traralgon
Tom Couling – Traralgon
Andrew Schonewille – Rosebud
Riley Stevens – Cardinia Beaconhills
Scott Boschen – Horsham
Shane Grover – Nhill
The Team was managed by Corangamite Men’s District Secretary, John Snowden with Golf Victoria President John Hobday and Board Member Harvey Ashton also attending.
The match has been played since 1989, annually alternating between Victoria and South Australia. The contest provides a high standard match for the leading country players from both states.
The annual match returns to Victoria in 2015 over the weekend of October 31 – November at the Nhill Golf Club in the Wimmera
District.
