The 2019 Victorian Friday Women’s Pennant Finals were played at Woodlands and Victoria Golf Clubs today with Victoria, Cranbourne, Rosanna and Yering Meadows all winning their respective divisions.
In Division One, Victoria was too good for Huntingdale, winning 4 matches to 3, after fighting back on the back nine holes. Victoria had gone through the round matches undefeated, so the win in the final was well deserved.
“We are absolutely thrilled”, said Women’s Club Captain Kristine Vandertop.
Division Two saw Cranbourne defeat Metropolitan 4 matches to 3. Metropolitan had finished atop of the table following the round matches, however Cranbourne was too strong when it mattered to take the flag.
The Division Three contest between Latrobe and Rosanna was extremely close, with Rosanna taking the honours 4.5 matches to 2.5 matches. The result was sealed when the number 3 match was won by Rosanna’s Allison Southwell 1up on the 18th hole. It was sweet revenge for Rosanna who had lost to Latrobe in the earlier round robin matches.
Division Four saw Yering Meadows defeat Box Hill 5 matches to 2. The match result was a replica of their round four contest.
Undefeated players in the 2019 Friday Women’s Pennant were Dora Stewart (Medway), Jenny Cooper (Medway), Nanapat Sittireanchai (Centenary Park), Michele Craigie (Huntingdale) and Kwang-Ni Bum (Huntingdale).
