The Doug Bachli Trophy & Paul Lulofs Trophy are awarded to the players that accure the highest total of points for gross and nett performances respectively in designated Victorian Senior Events through the course of the year.

In his debut season, Geoffrey Charnley from Rossdale has stormed home to take out the Doug Bachli trophy for the first time.

Charnley finished the year extremely strongly highlighted by his win at the Victorian Senior Amateur Championship at Shepparton and Hill Top Golf Clubs in September.

Charnley was also victorious at Warrnambool and the Melbourne Seniors Classic and had several runners-up finishes throughout the year to finish on a total of 2655.

An unlucky second went to Kooringal’s Ian McCleary. McCleary owned the first half of the year with six individual wins giving him a monstrous lead. McCleary was eventually run down by Charnley as he finished on 2589 for the year.

The Doug Bachli 65+ champion went to Chris Tatt of Buninyong.

The Doug Bachli trophy is named in memory of the late Doug Bachli, who in 1954 famously came from behind at Muirfield to upstage American Walker Cup player Bill Campbell, to become the first Australian to win the British Amateur championship.

Despite being second in the Doug Bachli, McCleary would not be denied in the Paul Lulofs trophy as he was a runaway winner. Playing off a handicap of 3, McCleary was never far away from the top and finished on 1813. Runner-up to McCleary was the ever ppromiment Ignatius Duivenvoorden. Duivenvoorden a former five-time winner of the event, fell 181 points short to be deined a sixth title.

Duivenvoorden would however be victorious in the 65+ Paul Lulofs category, winning this for the third consecutive year.

Congratulations to all winners and thanks for continuing to support the Victorian Senior Golf Program. The 2019 schedule can be found by clicking here.
