It was a gorgeous day at Metropolitan Golf Course for the finals of the Victorian Secondary School Teams Championships. The tough course was no match for the Maribyrnong College 2 team who won the day with a total of 74 stableford points (best two of three scores). Tony Jung, Adam Tsiamis and David Vadori have earned a place at the Australian School Teams Championships which will be played at Peninsula Country Golf Club in December 2012. This win was the icing on the cake for Vadori who was celebrating his birthday today. 14 when he started the championship, he was 15 by the end of the round. Closely following the Maribyrnong College team were Runners-up Haileybury College College 2 team with 72 points and third place, on a countback went to Rowville Secondary College 2 (72).
Haileybury College 3 won the B division with 65 Stableford points.
Also recognised was Harry Bottomley of the Haileybury 2 team who scored his first hole-in-one on the 7th. Congratulations!
It was a fabulous day for players, who all have been offered the chance to apply for one of 15 scholarships offered by Metropolitan Golf Club. Many thanks go to the club, all of the grounds staff who worked hard to prepare the course after a week of wet weather, and Golf Victoria Rules Officials who kept the field moving well.
