Victorian support for Royal Women’s Hospital

Golf Victoria and the Royal Women’s Hospital congratulate Lousie Crosby and Simone Neal from Commonwealth who have won the prestigious State Final of the Royal Women’s Hospital Four-Ball. 36 pairs qualified either through their respective District Finals or the Metropolitan Final to compete in the State Final today at Yarra Yarra Golf Club.

Louise and Simone carded a great Four-ball Stableford score of 39 points in very testing conditions. Winds were gusting all day, making the lightning fast greens even more of a challenge and was reflected in the scores returned. A 3-way count back on 37 points was required for the runner-up position, with mother-daughter pair Loris Clark and Sue Bowler of Leongatha winning after a strong back nine of 21 points.

The Royal Women’s Hospital 4BBB event commenced in 2005, generously supporting one of the less well funded areas of women’s health: the consequences of and treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction. Through the generous support from players and clubs approximately $190,000 has been raised to date.

Dr Margaret Sherburn (Head of Physiotherapy – Royal Women’s Hospital) was grateful to accept the donation on behalf of the hospital, and gave an informative presentation to all players. The donation from last year went towards two new bladder ultrasound machines for the urogynaecology department and will be put to good use this year.

Continuing support from Golf Victoria for the Royal Women’s Hospital in this vital area of women’s health will enable the further development in the training of doctors, developing new treatments and technologies, and providing accessible health information to thousands of women around Victoria.

Thank you to all Victorian clubs for your passionate and ongoing support of the Royal Women’s Hospital annual 4BBB event, and the Yarra Yarra GC for hosting the final.
