Darren Beck has followed up his sizzling opening round 62 with an impressive five-under-par 66 to retain his lead atop the Queensland PGA Championship leaderboard. The New South Wales golfer is three strokes clear of the field after taming the Emerald Lakes Golf Club course once more on Friday. Beck, 29, heads a quality field at the 36-hole mark of the tournament. Leading the pack of chasers are Victorian duo Cameron Percy (63) and Raffael Toperoso (65) and New South Welshman Aaron Townsend, who fired a 63 to move to 11-under-par. A host of players, including Queenslander Paul Donahoo (67), are tied for fifth a stroke further back. But it was again Beck who led the way on day two. Beck extended his overnight lead by moving to 14-under-par at the halfway mark of the tournament. He took advantage of some lucky breaks in the latter stages of his round to hold at bay the challengers that include defending champion Percy. Veteran Peter Senior is not out of contention either after his round of 65 moved him in to a share of 15th, six behind Beck.
