Vines Week launched – Golf Month Activity

Vines Week launched November is Golf Month, a Golf SA marketing initiative aimed at increasing the number of people playing the game. At the heart of the campaign will be a number of new golfer activities conducted by Golf SA. Golf SA member clubs will also be holding various activities and events throughout the month for new players, social golfers and the club golfer. One such club, The Vines Golf Club of Reynella SA Inc. are delighted to announce Vines Week. Vines Week will take place from Sunday 25th November to Friday 30th November 2012 and feature golf competitions, golf workshops, Get Into Golf programs for all the family and a series of social events. We are passionate about developing the game of golf, said Jan James, President of The Vines and Vines Week allows us to promote the game to new golfers as well as helping existing golfers get better. Demos and Learning Central to Vines Week is the Get Into Golf program. Run by AAA PGA professional Steve Krause and his team, the Get Into Golf program will consist of five x 1 hour lessons covering the main skills of golf. There will be separate classes for women, men and juniors although Mums and Dads will be encouraged to accompany their kids at junior lesson time. We really want families to take up the sport, said Steve, and children always want to beat their parents so why not let them learn together. The cost of the 5 hour program is only $50. Steve is also managing a series of workshops throughout the week aimed at golfers of all ages and abilities. Workshops will cover driving, irons, chipping and putting and each hour-long workshop will cost $10. Competitions The marquee golf event of the week is the Vines Classic, a 36 hole stableford competition with 18 holes played on Monday and a further 18 on Tuesday. Other competitions include a 12 hole stableford on Sunday 25th, a 4 ball better ball on Wednesday 28th, a Pinehurst foursomes on Thursday 29th ad a 2 ball ambrose on Friday 30th. Players may opt for a morning (8am to 10am) or afternoon (1pm to 3pm) start. The Club’s main sponsor, Reynella Mazda, has put up a car for the first hole-in-one on the par 3, 6th. Other competitions will include a 9 hole evening competition on Thursday 29th and a 100m shoot out at various times during the week where the winner will receive a brand new set of TaylorMade golf clubs. Social Events The Vines is organising various happenings during Vines Week. In house there will be a prize giving dinner, a quiz night, a Night of the Speakers and a bingo night but a Vines Week wouldn t be a proper Vines Week without a wine tour which will take place on Wednesday 28th. Jan James: We hope Vines Week will become an annual focus for South Australian golfers and while we anticipate some serious competition from regular golfers we also expect some serious fun for everyone.
